Interview with David Frizzell

David Frizzell started touring and making music with his older brother Lefty Frizzell in the 50s & 60s when he was just a teenager. Roll the clock forward to 2023 and he's still touring, writing, producing, recording and he's now 81 years young. I've known David for over 30 years, since the first time we played music together out in the Ozarks, and you won't find a finer entertainer, audiences just love David. In 1981 he had his 1st #1 record with Shelly West on their duet "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma" which won CMA's "Song of the Year" & "Vocal Duet of the Year" and was nominated for a Grammy. They also won the Academy of Country Music award Vocal Duo of the Year 1981 and 1982. Also in 1982 David's next single, "I'm Gonna Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home" went #1. CMT honored this song by declaring it as one of country music's 40 greatest drinking songs. Currently working on a documentary and new music to honor his brother Lefty, David is just as busy as ever making music and performing. The following is taken from a 35 minute phone interview recorded on March 31, 2023 which just happened to be Lefty's Heavenly Birthday. Meet David Frizzell.
